Developing the reader-only, into hearer and doer

Our PLAYING BY EAR piano programme is not examined externally, but has been honed over many years, and enjoys a good reputation. We do not admit beginners to this programme. As of September 2008, beginners can qualify in one year through the ColeMusiq Piano Foundation Method. Please contact us for further details.

Students registering for ColeMusiq Earplay may be tested for the fundamentals of theory and applied piano. We do admit without qualification, anyone who is a current church pianist, playing publicly on a weekly basis.

Please see applicable fee. The minimum number of students in each teaching group is three. Each session is ninety minutes in duration, requires good concentration, keen observation and note-taking, and is supported by diligent practice here or at home. Students registering for this programme will be able to attend any of our musicianship classes at NO EXTRA COST.

Many persons who read music desire to play by ear as well. The approach outlined here assumes that the student has at least basic understanding of theory.
