Monophonic (one sound, part, voice--unison)
Polyphonic (many voices, parts, sounds)
Antiphonal (call and response, sound and answer)

ACCIDENTALS

An accidental is a musical sign indicating that a note is to be raised from, lowered from, or restored to, its original pitch. There are three basic accidentals: the sharp, the flat, and the natural. The sharp raises the pitch by a semintone, the flat lowers the pitch by a semitone, and the natural restores the pitch by raising OR lowering the pitch by a semitone. (On the piano, we raise to the right and lower to the left.)

PATRIOTIC SONG

Shining sun, then moonlight.
Across the land, from hill to sand
The sun shines, a star comes out.
Another day is done.

Barking dogs at nighttime,
The hummingbird cannot be heard
Till mornlight and sweetened straw.
Another day has dawned.

Hoary head, suckling
Muscle-toned, weakling
Lengthy tall, tiny small,
Love for all.

Mountain peaks, then valleys
The grassy plain in gentle rain
And tall trees, a little shrub.
Another day of fun.

Broadened smile smile, tip nose
Slitted eye, flat toes
Darkened hue, blanched too
What a crew!

Citrus fields and fruit walks
An apple grove turns mango cove
And garden, a country house
Our island in the sun.
FROM MANY WE ARE ONE.
